  • Foster growth and positive life choices, while promoting individuals in becoming connected to their community and First Nation traditions.
  • Maintain a social and emotional climate within the alternative home that is therapeutically oriented and follows the clients’ treatment goals to include communicating with the client in a respectful and professional manner exhibiting empathy and understanding.
  • Assist youth, child and/ or family in identifying attainable short and long-term goals, strategies for meeting these goals, and an action plan for implementation.
  • Ensure completion of reporting documentation including incident reports, child protection reports, daily logs, medical logs
  • Exercise good judgment in making quick decisions if required to act in a crisis.

Qualifications:

Degree or Diploma in any of the following:

  • Human Services
  • Child and Youth
  • Early Childhood Education
  • A Bachelors Degree

OR

Demonstrated experience working with individuals with any of the following: autism, mental illness, learning disabilities, behavioral issues, special needs, etc.

Required Skills:

  • Communication and Active Listening
  • Collaboration: Being able to work well in a team setting
  • Rapport: Being able to build and maintain positive relationships with individuals
  • Sensitivity and Patience
  • Attention to detail: Being thorough in day-to-day tasks

Other requirements:

  • Criminal Record check with vulnerable sector screening, Social Development Check and drivers abstract.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Training in First Aid, Suicide intervention, non-violent crisis intervention etc. will be considered an asset.
